LEBC VISA CONSULTATIONS

The issue of student visas is becoming ever more complicated. In April 2011, we expect the Home Office to announce new Tier 4 visa rules that will make it more difficult to obtain an extension to your visa. Detail is not known yet, but it’s certain that student progress on the course will be one of the main criteria for visa extension. As a result, LEBC will begin a new policy for helping with visa extensions:

NO PROGRESS, NO CAS

This means that unless you have a good progress report from your tutors, we shall not issue a ‘Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies’ (CAS) and will be unlikely to be able to extend your visa. The student progress report takes into account attendance, class participation and projected results for June exams.

LEBC WILL HANDLE ALL CORRESPONDENCE FOR YOUR VISA

The College will now be the address for all your visa correspondence. The UKBA requires the College to track your visa application through all stages, from receiving acknowledgment letters to giving you support if you have to appeal against refusal. Our handling all visa correspondence will ensure that the College has full knowledge of your application stage and that we can advise and support you.

• We shall also be running weekly consultations which will assist you if you have any worries about your application. These consultations will be held every Friday, from 10-3pm in one of the offices in the Student Services area:

• Completing application forms
• Checking all documents
• Ensuring that you understand possible outcomes
• Advice around refusals and applications declared invalid
• Referrals to solicitors, if appropriate
• Assisting with court bundles if you represent yourself in court
• Any other queries that you may have.

These consultations will be by appointment only, and will not be run on any other day. So, if you want the assistance of the College you must make time for the appointment. If you have classes that Friday, you will be excused for the time that you have been given for the appointment. Please arrange an appointment by emailing Appointment@eastbankcollege.org.uk. You must print and bring the appointment confirmation to the consultation. If you are late, you will not be seen!
