STUDENT WELFARE

As well as the visa consultations we shall be running weekly student welfare sessions where students are invited to discuss any issues they may have. Again, these discussions will be by appointment only. Mr. Alak B Dhar will be available Monday to Thursday, Appointment is mandatory, please see leaflet for available times.

In these individual discussions and group discussions (both are possible) you may raise themes such as:

• Academic progression
• Course change
• Proposals of student societies
• Complaints
• Personal advice and counselling

We will not discuss any personal financial issues in these welfare discussions. For these financial issues you must follow the current procedure of:

• writing an application,
• having your HOD or teacher’s approval
• submitting it to Student Services.

We welcome appointment requests from single students and groups of students. If you have a group of 5 or more, please write to arrange a discussion at least one week beforehand. We will arrange an appropriate room.

This new system will give all students an opportunity to discuss pressing themes in their studies or in their personal life. If requested, the meetings will be treated as confidential If you request an appointment for the expression of very individual concerns, you may invite support from the presence of a friend at the meeting. You may also request a particular member of staff to be present, though myself (Assistant Registrar) and/or the Director of Studies will be present at all times. If you would like the presence of a particular member of staff, please request this at least one week in advance of the suggested appointment so that we can make the arrangements.

Appointments should be made by emailing welfare@eastbankcollege.org.uk. In the email you should give your name and CMS ID, details about what you need to discuss, who will be present and what your preferred day and time would be. The earlier you book the better, as we shall give appointments on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
